ClinConnect Summary

The International Ovarian & Testicular Stromal Tumor Registry is a study aimed at understanding rare tumors that affect the ovaries and testicles, particularly in children and young adults. These tumors, called ovarian sex-cord stromal tumors and testicular stromal tumors, can be linked to a type of lung cancer known as pleuropulmonary blastoma (PPB). The study focuses on learning more about the causes of these tumors, especially the role of certain gene changes, like DICER1 mutations, which are found in some patients. By collecting information about the patients’ medical histories and tumor characteristics, the registry hopes to identify factors that might help predict outcomes and improve treatment options for these conditions.

Eligible participants include anyone with a previous or current diagnosis of specific ovarian or testicular stromal tumors, such as Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors or juvenile granulosa cell tumors. This study is open to all ages, including children, and aims to gather valuable biological samples and clinical data for future research. Participants can expect to contribute to important findings that could lead to better screening and treatment strategies, ultimately helping to enhance survival rates and reduce long-term side effects for those affected by these rare tumors.
