ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying two types of weight-loss surgeries—sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass—to see how effective they are in improving type 2 diabetes in people who are obese. Both procedures aim to help people lose weight and potentially control their diabetes better. Researchers want to find out if these two surgeries work equally well for managing diabetes.

To participate in the trial, individuals need to be between 18 and 60 years old, have type 2 diabetes, and have a body mass index (BMI) between 35 and 50, which means they are considered obese. However, those with serious mental health issues, other types of diabetes, or certain kidney problems cannot join. Participants can expect to undergo one of the two surgical procedures and be monitored afterward to see how their diabetes improves. This study is currently recruiting, and it offers a chance for those struggling with obesity and diabetes to explore new treatment options.
