ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the connection between a process in our cells called autophagy and a liver condition known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which is common among people who are obese. Researchers want to understand if certain genetic differences related to autophagy might influence who develops NAFLD. This is important because not everyone with obesity gets this liver disease, and knowing more could help in finding better treatments.
The trial is looking for participants between the ages of 6 and 18 who are classified as obese, meaning their body mass index (BMI) is higher than 95% for their age and gender. To be eligible, participants should not have any history of alcohol use or chronic liver diseases, and they should be in good overall health. If you or someone you know is interested in joining, you’ll need to provide written consent. Participants can expect to undergo assessments that help researchers gather important information about how autophagy may affect liver health.
