ClinConnect Summary
The Swiss Longitudinal Cohort study is a research project aimed at understanding cardiovascular risk factors, which are things that can increase the chances of heart disease and other related health issues. This study is similar to the well-known Framingham study in the United States, and it is the first of its kind in Switzerland. Researchers are looking at participants from three Swiss towns, starting with Lostallo/Cama, where they recruited 496 people between 2014 and 2019. They plan to begin recruiting in another town, Uznach, in 2020. Participants will undergo various health measurements to help researchers gather valuable information about heart health over time.
To join the study, you must be a resident of Cama GR, Lostallo GR, or Uznach SG, and be at least 6 years old (with parental consent needed for those under 18). There’s no upper age limit, so anyone can participate! The study is currently still recruiting participants, and there are no specific health issues that would exclude someone from joining. By participating, you’ll help contribute to important research that could improve heart health for everyone in Switzerland.
