ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how a specific type of physical therapy, called nonspecific mandibular mobilization, might help people with a condition known as Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMD). TMD can cause pain and discomfort in the jaw, and in this trial, researchers want to see how this therapy affects the position of the jaw joint's disc and the overall pain and quality of life for participants. The study will use MRI scans to look at changes in the joint and will involve participants receiving the therapy three times a week for four weeks.

To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be diagnosed with TMD that includes the displacement of the disc, which can happen with or without reduction. They should have all their teeth except for the wisdom teeth. However, individuals with certain conditions, such as purely muscular TMD or those who have had previous jaw surgery, will not be able to participate. Throughout the study, participants will complete surveys to assess their pain levels and quality of life at various points, helping researchers understand the therapy's effectiveness. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to gather valuable information on new treatment options for TMD.
