ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a new way to treat perianal abscesses, which are painful infections near the anus, often linked to conditions like anal fistulas and incontinence. Traditionally, doctors have drained these abscesses using a knife while the patient is under general anesthesia. However, this method can lead to complications, such as the abscess coming back or forming chronic fistulas, which are abnormal connections between the anus and the skin. In this study, researchers are testing a technique that uses ultrasound to guide the drainage of the abscess, aiming to improve visibility and control during the procedure, which may reduce the chances of these complications.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be over 18 years old and have a perianal abscess that requires surgical treatment. Unfortunately, individuals under 18 or those who cannot understand the study information, such as due to language barriers or dementia, cannot participate. If you choose to take part in the study, you can expect to undergo this ultrasound-guided drainage procedure, and researchers hope that this new method will lead to better healing and fewer issues in the future. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and all genders are welcome to join.
