ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called Robot Aided Rehabilitation - Multi-joint Evaluations, is focused on understanding how stroke affects movement and feeling in the arm and hand. After a stroke, many people experience problems using their arms and hands, which can lead to significant disability. Researchers believe that stiffness and difficulty in controlling movements may worsen over time after a stroke. The goal of this study is to measure these issues during recovery by using a special robot called the IntelliArm, which will help assess how well participants can move their arms and hands.
To take part in this study, participants must be between 65 and 74 years old and have had their first stroke within the last month. They should have a specific type of arm and hand weakness measured by a standard assessment tool. However, individuals with certain conditions, like difficulty with movement not related to the stroke or cognitive issues, won't be eligible. Participants can expect to undergo various assessments that will help the researchers learn more about recovery from stroke using robotic technology. This study is currently recruiting participants, and their findings could lead to better rehabilitation techniques for stroke survivors in the future.
