ClinConnect Summary
The GeneMatch program is a part of the Alzheimer's Prevention Registry aimed at helping researchers find people who want to participate in studies related to Alzheimer’s disease. This program focuses on individuals’ genetic background, specifically a gene called Apolipoprotein E (APOE), which can affect the risk of developing Alzheimer’s. By joining this program, you can be matched with research studies that may help advance our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and improve prevention strategies. If you are between the ages of 50 and 90 and live in the United States, you may be eligible to participate.
If you decide to join, you will need to provide some basic information about yourself, including your medical history, and agree to have your APOE gene tested, although you will not receive the results. It’s important to note that individuals with a self-reported diagnosis of dementia or cognitive impairment cannot participate. This is a great opportunity to contribute to important Alzheimer’s research, and you can learn more or sign up by visiting www.endALZnow.org/GeneMatch.
