ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Measurement of Energy Metabolism in Infants," is studying how much energy infants use in their first three months of life. The goal is to understand better how babies develop and how their energy needs might change, especially for those who are gaining weight more than expected. The study is currently looking for healthy, full-term infants aged between 1 month and 3 months who are fed only breast milk or infant formula.
If your baby is eligible, they will need to visit the Pennington Biomedical Research Center for three appointments over about two weeks. During these visits, participants will drink a special type of water that helps researchers measure energy use. It’s important to note that babies with certain conditions, like being born early or having health issues, cannot join this study. This research could help improve our understanding of infant health and nutrition, making it a valuable opportunity for participating families.
