ClinConnect Summary
The Spanish Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Cohort Study, also known as SAFEHEART, is a large research project aimed at better understanding familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH), a genetic condition that causes high cholesterol levels. This study is specifically looking at patients who have been genetically diagnosed with heterozygous FH and their family members in Spain. If you or a family member has been diagnosed with FH and are over the age of 15, you may be eligible to participate in this study.
Participants in this trial can expect to contribute to important research that could help improve treatments for FH. Since the study is still recruiting, it is open to both men and women. The main requirement is that participants must have a confirmed genetic diagnosis of FH, either as the original case or as a close relative. It's important to note that if someone is not willing to participate, they will not be included in the study. Overall, this research aims to gather valuable information to enhance understanding and management of this condition.
