ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well patients recover after surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), which is a common knee injury, especially among athletes. The goal is to better understand how movement patterns and muscle strength change six and nine months after surgery. Researchers want to identify risk factors that might lead to re-injury or ongoing knee problems. By comparing the movements of patients who have had ACL surgery to those of healthy athletes, the study aims to help doctors develop better rehabilitation programs and determine when it is safe for patients to return to sports.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be active individuals over the age of 13 who are scheduled for ACL reconstruction at the Sports Surgery Clinic in Ireland. Those with multiple orthopedic injuries or who have surgery at other clinics cannot participate. Participants will undergo movement and strength tests using advanced technology to track their movements and assess their muscle strength, along with completing questionnaires about their knee function and any symptoms they may experience. This information will help researchers understand the recovery process and improve outcomes for future patients.
