ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking to gather important information about how to measure and understand pupil size and reactivity using a special device called a pupillometer. By collecting data from patients in neuro-intensive care, the researchers aim to create a standard or “normative” set of values for what healthy pupil responses look like. This information can help doctors better assess neurological health in critically ill patients.
To participate in this study, patients must be admitted to specific hospitals and have a doctor's order for regular pupillary assessments, which means their pupils will be checked regularly with the pupillometer. Unfortunately, patients who are not hospitalized or who do not have these specific assessments ordered will not be eligible for this trial. Those who do participate can expect to have their pupils measured regularly, contributing to a better understanding of pupil responses in critical illness. This study is important because it aims to improve how doctors interpret pupil measurements, which can be crucial for patient care in serious conditions.
