ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different methods for placing a catheter in the internal jugular vein, which is a large vein in the neck. The two techniques being compared are ultrasound-guided catheter placement and a new method called the prelocation technique. The researchers want to find out if the prelocation technique is just as effective as the ultrasound method. They will use a special device during the prelocation technique to help guide the process by rotating the ultrasound screen based on the position of the ultrasound probe.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult who is scheduled for general anesthesia. However, some people may not be eligible, such as those who have spinal injuries, certain neck conditions, or who might have increased pressure in the brain. If you join the study, you can expect to have your catheter placed using one of the two techniques being tested, and your experience will help researchers learn more about the best ways to perform this important medical procedure.
