ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different surgical options for patients with gallbladder cancer, specifically those with T2 or T3 stages of the disease. The researchers want to find out if a smaller surgery called wedge resection, which removes a small part of the liver, is as effective as a bigger surgery called bisegmentectomy, which removes larger sections of the liver. They will compare how often the cancer comes back and how long patients survive after each type of surgery.
To participate in this trial, you need to have a confirmed diagnosis of T2 or T3 gallbladder cancer, either from a CT scan before surgery or after a simple gallbladder removal. Unfortunately, if the cancer has spread to other areas, cannot be completely removed, or is diagnosed as a different type of cancer, you won't be eligible. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two surgery groups, with 44 patients in each group. This trial is currently recruiting patients of all ages, and it aims to provide important information to help doctors choose the best surgical approach for treating gallbladder cancer.
