ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking to understand the genetic causes behind undiagnosed diseases in people from Plain Communities, such as the Amish and Mennonite populations. Researchers will use advanced techniques called whole exome and whole genome sequencing, which essentially means they will analyze the complete sets of genes in participants to identify any genetic problems that might be causing health issues. Additionally, the study will explore how certain genetic characteristics have developed within these communities over time.
To participate in this study, individuals must be of Amish or Mennonite descent. The trial is open to people of all ages, from infants to adults. If someone joins the study, they can expect to provide samples for genetic testing and may help researchers learn more about rare diseases that often go undiagnosed. This research could not only help participants but also provide valuable insights into the health of the Plain Communities as a whole.
