ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of different types of strength training on patients who have recently experienced a stroke or had total hip or knee replacement surgery. The researchers will be looking at how isokinetic training (a type of exercise that involves moving a joint through its range of motion at a constant speed), isotonic training (where muscles change length while lifting a constant weight), and isometric training (where muscles contract without moving the joint) affect strength and recovery over four weeks.
To participate, you need to be within one month of having a stroke or have had hip or knee replacement surgery within the last two to four weeks. However, if you have certain conditions, such as difficulty moving from sitting to standing, a high body weight, or other health issues that could affect your ability to exercise, you may not be eligible. Participants will be tested before and after the training to see how well they improve in strength and overall health. This trial aims to find out which type of training is most effective in helping patients regain their strength and mobility after surgery or a stroke.
