ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how nutrition affects the eye and skin, focusing on a group of nutrients called carotenoids, which are found in colorful fruits and vegetables. The researchers want to find out how to measure the levels of these carotenoids in the eye and skin without needing to do any invasive procedures. They’ll also look at carotenoid levels in the blood for some participants.
Anyone aged 7 or older who is having a routine eye exam at the Moran Eye Center can join the study, especially those with a specific eye condition called adult vitelliform dystrophy, which can be mistaken for early age-related macular degeneration. If you decide to participate, you’ll help researchers learn more about how nutrition impacts eye health, and you’ll be contributing to important research that could benefit others in the future.
