ClinConnect Summary
The Deployment-Related Lung Disease Research Database and Biorepository study is looking to better understand lung diseases, specifically bronchiolitis, in individuals who served in the military during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, as well as civilian contractors who worked with them. The goal of this research is to create a database and a collection of samples that can help researchers gather important health information and blood samples from participants. This data will be used to learn more about the health effects related to their service and to improve care for similar conditions in the future.
To participate, individuals must have served in the southwest Asia wars, including Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom. If you qualify, you can expect to visit the clinic, where researchers will collect blood samples and health information about your medical history and any exposures related to your service. This study is currently recruiting participants of all genders, typically between the ages of 65 and 74. Your involvement could provide valuable insights that benefit other veterans and contractors facing similar health challenges.
