ClinConnect Summary
The Cleveland Cardiometabolic Cohort study is looking at how the body changes in people with HIV, particularly when they start treatment for the first time. Researchers want to understand how these changes in body fat and muscle might relate to heart health and blood vessel function. This is an important area of study because many people with HIV experience changes in body composition, known as lipodystrophy, which can affect their overall health.
To participate in this study, you need to be diagnosed with HIV and not currently on any HIV treatment. You should also be planning to start HIV treatment soon. The study is open to adults aged 18 and older, and it is important that you can read and understand the consent form to join. If you choose to participate, you will help researchers learn more about the effects of HIV treatment on body changes and heart health, which could lead to better care for others in the future.
