ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how a special type of physical therapy can help people who have had surgery to create an ileo-anal pouch, a procedure often done for conditions like Ulcerative Colitis. Researchers want to see if patients who receive guided exercises and training from a physiotherapist, which includes pelvic floor muscle training, do better than those who only receive standard care after their surgery. The trial is currently recruiting participants aged between 18 and 74 who have a documented history of Ulcerative Colitis or Familial Adenomatous Polyposis and are in various stages of their pouch surgery journey.
If you join the trial, you will be randomly assigned to either the physiotherapy group or the standard care group. This means you won’t be able to choose, but it helps the researchers understand which approach works better. The study is open to all genders, but some people may not be eligible if they have certain health issues or are pregnant. Overall, this trial aims to improve recovery and quality of life for those who have undergone ileo-anal pouch surgery.
