ClinConnect Summary

The STOP DIABETES - Knowledge-based Solutions trial is designed to help people at risk of developing type 2 diabetes by encouraging healthier lifestyle choices. This study will involve around 10,000 people aged 18 to 70 who live in specific areas of Finland and have a higher likelihood of diabetes based on certain health indicators. Participants will be divided into three groups: one group will receive usual care, another will get support through a digital program, and the third will have both digital and in-person support. The goal is to help participants improve their diet, increase physical activity, lose weight, and better manage their blood sugar levels.

To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be between 18 and 70 years old, live in certain Finnish regions, and have a specific score indicating their risk for diabetes. They should also be comfortable using a smartphone or computer with internet access. It’s important to note that individuals currently living with diabetes, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those with certain recent health conditions, like cancer, cannot participate. By taking part in this study, individuals will not only receive guidance on improving their health but will also contribute to important research aimed at preventing type 2 diabetes in the community.
