ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a treatment called Percutaneous Therapeutic Electrolysis (EPTE®) for patients with Achilles tendinopathy, a common condition that causes pain in the Achilles tendon, which is located at the back of the ankle. The trial aims to see how effective this treatment is compared to a sham (fake) treatment in improving pain and function in people with chronic Achilles tendinopathy. Participants will receive the treatment using a special needle guided by ultrasound, which helps to deliver a low electrical current directly to the injured tendon area. The study will also compare two types of needles used in this treatment to see if one is better than the other.
To be eligible for the trial, you need to have been diagnosed with chronic Achilles tendinopathy for at least three months but not more than three years. Some people may not qualify if they have had physical therapy recently, have undergone surgery for this condition, are pregnant, or have certain medical conditions. If you decide to participate, you can expect to receive either the EPTE® treatment or a sham treatment, and the study aims to assess how well each option helps with your pain and mobility. This trial is taking place at Infanta Leonor Hospital in Madrid, Spain, and is currently recruiting participants.
