ClinConnect Summary
The Early Rheumatoid Arthritis Lung Disease Study is looking into how lung disease affects patients who have recently been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This study is important because about half of people with RA can also have problems with their lungs. Researchers want to understand how common lung issues are in these early RA patients and how they can be identified using surveys, imaging tests, and blood samples. They are also hoping to discover new markers that could help predict lung disease in RA patients.
To participate in this study, you need to be between 19 and 90 years old and have been diagnosed with RA by a specialist within the last two years. Unfortunately, if you are pregnant or have a different kind of inflammatory arthritis that doesn’t fit the RA criteria, you won’t be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to answer questions about your health, undergo lung function tests, and have imaging done to evaluate your lungs. This research could help improve understanding and treatment of lung disease in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis.
