ClinConnect Summary

The New Orleans Pulmonary Hypertension Biobank is a clinical trial focused on understanding pulmonary hypertension, a serious condition where the blood pressure in the lungs is higher than normal. The researchers aim to collect samples such as blood, urine, and stool from patients with pulmonary hypertension, those at high risk for it, healthy individuals, and patients undergoing a procedure called right heart catheterization. This biobank will help scientists study the causes of the disease and develop better ways to monitor and treat it in the future.

To participate in this trial, individuals must be diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, systemic sclerosis, or mixed connective tissue disease, and be followed at the Comprehensive Pulmonary Hypertension Center. Patients who are undergoing outpatient right heart catheterization may also be eligible. Unfortunately, those under 18, pregnant, unable to understand English, currently incarcerated, or unwilling to sign consent won't be able to join. Participants can expect to provide samples for research, which will be stored for future studies aimed at improving care for people with pulmonary hypertension.
