ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying uterus transplantation (UTx) as a way to help women who have a condition called uterine infertility, which means they either do not have a uterus or cannot use their uterus to carry a pregnancy. The trial will look at two types of uterus donations: from living donors (like a family member or friend) and from deceased donors (women who have passed away but whose organs are still healthy). The goal is to allow women with these conditions to experience pregnancy and childbirth. In total, 20 uterus transplants will be performed, with half coming from living donors and half from deceased donors.
To participate in this study, women who are between 18 to 40 years old and in good health may be eligible if they have a congenital or acquired absence of a uterus and wish to have children. Women interested in donating their uterus must be healthy, between 18 to 60 years old, and have had no more than four childbirths. The process involves several steps, including in vitro fertilization (fertilizing eggs outside the body) and monitoring after the transplant. This study aims to help open the door for women who have been unable to conceive due to a lack of a uterus, giving them the chance to become mothers.
