ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the gut bacteria (microbiota) of preterm infants (born before 37 weeks of pregnancy) compared to full-term infants (born after 37 weeks) during their first 90 days of life. Researchers want to understand how the gut microbiome develops in these two groups and to identify factors that might influence this process. They believe that the way the gut bacteria progress in preterm infants may be different due to factors like antibiotic use, which can disrupt healthy gut development.
To participate in this study, preterm infants need to be at least 1 day old and have stayed in the hospital for more than 7 days without any serious gastrointestinal issues or metabolic diseases. The study also has a control group of healthy full-term infants who were born vaginally and do not have any gastrointestinal problems. Participants will be monitored as they grow, and their gut microbiome will be analyzed to gather important information about their health. This research aims to improve our understanding of gut health in newborns, especially those born early.
