ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of two different ways to deliver insulin for young adults with type 1 diabetes who are moving from pediatric to adult care. It aims to find out whether using an insulin pump, which provides a steady flow of insulin, is more effective in controlling blood sugar levels compared to taking multiple daily injections of insulin. This is important because many young adults struggle to keep their blood sugar stable during this transition, which can lead to serious health issues.
To participate in the study, individuals should have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes for at least a year and have difficulty maintaining their blood sugar levels despite receiving help and education. Participants should be open to using an insulin pump and must not have used one before. Those who are pregnant, have certain severe health conditions, or have issues that might affect their ability to use the devices are not eligible. Participants in the trial can expect to be closely monitored and supported as they try out the insulin pump in comparison to injections, helping researchers understand which method might work better for managing their diabetes.
