ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the use of Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) as an alternative to CT scans for children who have experienced blunt abdominal trauma. Blunt abdominal trauma can occur from incidents like car accidents or falls, and doctors typically use CT scans to check for injuries to internal organs. However, CT scans involve radiation exposure and can be costly. CEUS might be a safer option because it doesn’t use radiation and can be done right at the bedside.
To participate in this trial, children need to be stable and not require immediate surgery. They should have either a history of blunt trauma or a suspicion of such an injury, and a CT scan should already be ordered or performed. However, children with certain allergies or other specific medical conditions cannot join the study. If eligible, participants can expect to undergo a CEUS test to help doctors better understand any potential injuries, all while minimizing risks associated with traditional imaging methods.
