ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effectiveness of a device called the IGEL laryngeal mask airway in patients who have received radiation therapy to their necks due to head and neck cancer. These patients often face challenges with breathing support during general anesthesia, which can be risky. The trial aims to find out how well the IGEL device can help maintain oxygen levels in these high-risk patients if traditional methods, like mask ventilation or intubation (inserting a tube to help with breathing), do not succeed.

To participate in the trial, you need to be 18 years or older and scheduled for an elective procedure that requires general anesthesia. You must also have had radiation therapy to your neck. The trial is currently recruiting participants and is open to all genders. If you qualify and choose to take part, you can expect to help researchers understand how effective the IGEL device is in this specific group of patients, which could ultimately improve care for others in similar situations.
