ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how well different blood-thinning medications, known as anticoagulants, work for patients with conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). These conditions occur when blood clots form in the veins and can be dangerous if they travel to the lungs. The trial is taking place at the Gonda Vascular Center-Thrombophilia Clinic at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and aims to gather information on how often these clots come back, the risk of serious bleeding, and overall survival in patients receiving these treatments.

To be eligible for this trial, patients must have been diagnosed with a VTE at the clinic and started on anticoagulant therapy within two weeks of their diagnosis. However, patients who are already taking blood thinners for other reasons or are involved in other clinical trials cannot participate. While the study is ongoing and does not have a fixed number of participants, those who join can expect to be closely monitored for their health outcomes as they receive standard care. This research will help improve treatment approaches for future patients with similar conditions.
