ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether cranberry capsules are as effective as a medication called nitrofurantoin in preventing urinary tract infections (UTIs) after certain surgeries for women with pelvic organ prolapse or urinary incontinence. The trial involves women aged 18 and older who speak English and are scheduled for these specific surgeries. However, women who are pregnant, have certain medical conditions, or have allergies to either cranberry products or nitrofurantoin are not eligible to participate.
Participants in this study can expect to take either cranberry capsules or nitrofurantoin after their surgery and will be monitored to see which option better helps prevent UTIs. This research is important because it aims to find safer and more effective ways to protect women's health following surgery. Please note that this trial is currently active but not recruiting new participants at the moment.
