ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how oxidative stress (an imbalance in harmful substances in the body) affects the success of pregnancy in men undergoing intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF). The researchers believe that high levels of oxidative stress in men with abnormal sperm could influence their chances of fertilization and pregnancy. To learn more, they will analyze sperm samples from three groups of men: those who are confirmed fathers, those undergoing IVF, and those in their first three cycles of IUI. By measuring different sperm characteristics and oxidative stress levels, they aim to see if these factors can help predict pregnancy outcomes.

Eligible participants include men aged 18 to 40 who are confirmed fathers or are using IVF or IUI at the Fertilys Reproductive Health Center. Unfortunately, men over 40, those who cannot provide a sperm sample, or couples who have already completed IUI cycles cannot join the study. Participants can expect to provide a sperm sample, which will be tested for various factors related to sperm health and oxidative stress. If successful, this research could lead to new ways to diagnose male infertility and guide treatment options.
