ClinConnect Summary
The e-Connect trial is studying a new way to help young people at risk for suicide and related mental health issues. The goal is to create a system that quickly identifies these young individuals and connects them to the right services they need. This program will involve training probation staff to better understand mental health and suicide risks, using a proven screening tool to assess needs, and developing a mobile app to streamline the process of finding and linking to appropriate help. The trial will take place in 10 counties in New York and will look at how well this new system works in improving service use among youth on probation.
To be eligible for the trial, probation officers aged 21-70 who work with youth in various roles, such as supervision and assessment, can participate. Additionally, young people aged 10-18 who are newly entering the probation system can also be part of the study. Participants can expect to help shape how mental health services are delivered to young people in their communities. This trial aims to improve support for at-risk youth and ensure they receive the care they need.
