ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effects of music therapy on adult patients who are on mechanical ventilation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Music therapy is a type of treatment where a trained music therapist uses live music to help patients relax and feel more comfortable. The aim of this study is to see if this special approach to music therapy can help shorten the time patients need to be on a breathing machine. The music therapist will work with each patient, using a song that has personal meaning to them, to create a calming experience that is connected to their vital signs, like heart rate and breathing.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must be adults aged 18 and older who are facing serious breathing problems, such as acute respiratory distress syndrome, and are expected to need mechanical ventilation for at least 48 hours. However, those with certain conditions, like severe hearing issues or who are in a coma, cannot participate. If someone joins the study, they can expect to receive personalized music therapy sessions while they are in the ICU, potentially helping them feel more at ease during a challenging time.
