ClinConnect Summary
The MAPCOG-SEEG trial is studying how our brains work when we think and process information in people with a specific type of epilepsy called focal epilepsy, which is hard to treat with medications. The goal is to create a detailed map, or atlas, of human cognition based on brain recordings taken during a special test called SEEG (stereo-electroencephalography) that is done before surgery for epilepsy. This atlas will help researchers understand brain activity related to thinking and could improve treatment options in the future.
To participate in this trial, individuals must have focal epilepsy that doesn't respond to drugs and need a SEEG exploration for surgery evaluation. Participants should also be able to understand and complete tasks during the study. Unfortunately, those who are pregnant, under legal protection, or cannot provide necessary information (like recent arrivals who may not speak the language) cannot join. Participants can expect to undergo brain recordings while performing cognitive tasks, contributing to important research that may benefit others with similar conditions.
