ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Genetics Of Autoimmunity In Type I Diabetes," is studying how type 1 diabetes develops in people. Researchers believe that both genetic factors (things you inherit from your family) and environmental factors (things around you) influence the immune system, which in turn may lead to type 1 diabetes. The study seeks to gather more detailed information about this process by looking at families where at least one member has type 1 diabetes, as well as healthy individuals without any family history of diabetes or autoimmune diseases.
To participate, families must include at least one person diagnosed with type 1 diabetes before age 39, and family members need to be at least 2 years old. Participants will provide a blood sample, answer a short medical history questionnaire, and have their height and weight measured. Some participants may be asked to return for follow-up visits each year for up to 10 years. This study is currently looking for participants of all ages, so if you think you might qualify, it could be a great opportunity to contribute to important research on type 1 diabetes.
