ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to treat amblyopia, commonly known as lazy eye. Traditionally, treatment involved patching the stronger eye for a couple of hours each day, but many patients find it hard to stick with this plan. The trial explores whether using video games on devices like phones and tablets can help improve vision in the lazy eye while also encouraging both eyes to work together. The hope is that by making treatment more engaging, patients will be more likely to participate and see better results.
To join the trial, participants must be between the ages of 4 and 10 and diagnosed with either anisometropic amblyopia (where the eyes have different levels of vision) or strabismic amblyopia (where the eyes are misaligned). They should not have received previous amblyopia treatment or had any eye surgeries. Participants can expect to play specially designed video games that aim to enhance their vision and coordination between both eyes. It's important to note that while early results are promising, further research is needed to confirm how effective and safe this new approach is.
