ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new approach to help people with Alzheimer's disease and mild cognitive impairment. Researchers are looking at how a combination of special light therapy and cognitive therapy, delivered through an iPad app called AlzLife, can improve thinking skills and overall quality of life. The light therapy uses a flickering light that flashes at 40 times per second, which has shown promise in increasing important brain activity called gamma waves and reducing harmful substances in the brain, called beta amyloid plaques.
To participate in this trial, individuals must have a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or cognitive impairment. However, those with a history of seizures or significant eye diseases, like macular degeneration, cannot join, as healthy eyes are needed for the therapy to work effectively. Participants will have the opportunity to try out this innovative treatment and see if it can help improve their memory and daily functioning. The trial is currently recruiting participants aged 18 and older and welcomes all genders.
