ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a treatment called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), which is a non-invasive way to stimulate the brain. Researchers want to see how TMS affects brain activity in patients who have had electrodes placed in their brains for monitoring seizures. This study will help gather information about how TMS interacts with the brain, which could be important for future treatments for epilepsy that doesn’t respond to other therapies.
To participate in the trial, individuals must be at least 18 years old and undergoing neurosurgery with the implantation of intracranial electrodes for long-term monitoring of their brain activity. It's essential that participants can understand the study's risks and benefits to provide their consent. The trial is currently looking for volunteers, and all genders are welcome. Participants can expect to have TMS applied to specific areas of their brain while their responses are carefully recorded over a period of about two weeks. This research could lead to better understanding and treatment options for patients with difficult-to-treat epilepsy.

Eligibility criteria
- Inclusion Criteria:
- • Eligible subjects will include neurosurgery patients (age 18 and above) who have implantation of intracranial electrodes and undergo long term (about 2 weeks) EEG monitoring in order to decide candidacy for surgical resection of seizure foci. They must have the cognitive capacity to understand the risks and benefits fo the study and provide consent.
- Exclusion Criteria:
- • Those who are known to have neurological or psychiatric disorder other than primary disease for which patients have surgery will be excluded.
