ClinConnect Summary
This study is looking at how common neck and lower back pain are among medical students at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus in Jamaica. It also aims to understand what these students know about keeping their spine healthy, how they feel about it, and what they actually do to take care of their back and neck. For those students who are experiencing neck or low back pain, the study will test a special exercise program designed to help reduce their pain and improve their spine health.
Any student currently enrolled in the medical program at this university between October 2018 and January 2026 can join, as long as they agree to take part and follow the exercise plan if needed. However, students who have had spine surgery or are already receiving treatment for spine problems cannot participate. If you join, you’ll be asked about your back and neck pain, your habits related to spine care, and, if you have pain, you’ll follow the exercise program for a set time to see if it helps. This study is currently open and looking for volunteers.
