ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Pitch Perception and Memory: Deficits and Training," is looking at how people with cochlear implants, as well as individuals with a specific condition called congenital amusia (which affects the ability to perceive music), understand and remember different pitches in sounds. The researchers want to learn more about how these groups process sounds compared to people without hearing issues. They will use several methods, including behavioral tests and brain imaging techniques, to identify any challenges in pitch perception and to see if a training program can help improve these skills.
To participate in the study, adults aged 18 to 90 are eligible as long as they do not have significant neurological or psychiatric disorders and can follow study instructions. For younger participants, ages 5 and up, parental consent is required. All participants should be motivated to take part and be covered by social security. Those interested can expect to engage in various activities that measure their ability to recognize pitches, and they may also participate in training sessions aimed at improving their pitch perception. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to better understand auditory processing, which is important for recognizing speech and music.
