ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how mindfulness meditation can help caregivers of people with severe psychiatric disorders, like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. The researchers want to see if practicing mindfulness can reduce stress and improve emotional health, as well as influence certain physical health markers in the body that are related to stress. The trial involves 80 participants who will be divided into two groups: one group will attend mindfulness meditation sessions along with their regular check-ups, while the other group will only receive standard care for a year.

To be eligible for this study, you must be an adult caregiver of someone with a severe psychiatric disorder and provide consent to participate. Unfortunately, individuals who are pregnant, have severe mental health problems that could worsen, or have certain inflammatory diseases cannot take part in the trial. If you join, you can expect to attend three visits and, if you're in the mindfulness group, participate in eight meditation sessions over the course of the year. This study aims to gather valuable information that could help in creating better support programs for caregivers in the future.
