ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a treatment called transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) for people with systemic autoimmune myopathies, which are conditions that primarily affect the muscles. This treatment involves applying a small electrical current to the scalp to see if it can help improve muscle strength and function. The researchers want to find out if this method is safe and effective for patients with these muscle disorders, as there hasn't been much research on this topic before.
To participate in the trial, individuals aged between 65 and 75 who have specific muscle weakness related to their autoimmune condition may be eligible. However, people with certain health issues, like cancer, those using a heart pacemaker, or those who are pregnant, cannot take part. Participants in the study will receive either the actual treatment or a placebo (a fake treatment) in a random order, and neither they nor the researchers will know which one they are receiving at first. This helps ensure that the results are reliable. Overall, the study aims to explore a new potential treatment option for these patients, which could lead to better care in the future.
