ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new treatment for dry eye syndrome caused by meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). MGD occurs when small glands in the eyelids that help keep tears from evaporating are not working properly. This can lead to symptoms like eye irritation and a feeling of something stuck in the eye. Currently, the usual treatments involve eyelid massages and warm compresses, but these don’t always provide relief. In this study, researchers want to see if a thermal therapy device called MiBo Thermoflo works better than the traditional methods.
To participate in the trial, you need to be diagnosed with dry eye syndrome and have tried eyelid massages and warm compresses without improvement. Unfortunately, if you are pregnant, have had eye surgery recently, or have certain eye conditions, you won't be eligible. If you join, you will be randomly assigned to either receive thermal therapy with the MiBo device or continue with warm compresses and eyelid massages for 24 weeks. The goal is to compare how well each method helps with your symptoms, so you can expect close monitoring and follow-ups throughout the study.
