ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Acute Sodium Bicarbonate Supplementation in Athletes," is investigating how taking sodium bicarbonate (a common baking ingredient that can help with exercise performance) affects athletes during their training. The researchers want to see if this supplement can improve physical performance and help athletes perform better in their specific sports. The study is designed to compare the effects of sodium bicarbonate with a placebo (a substance with no active ingredients) in a way that neither the participants nor the researchers know which one they are receiving at any time.
To participate in this study, athletes need to be between 18 and 65 years old, have at least two years of training experience, and work out at least four times a week. They must also have a doctor’s approval to participate in sports and be willing to follow the study guidelines. Participants will receive either sodium bicarbonate or a placebo during the study and will be monitored for their performance and health. It's important to note that individuals with current injuries or health issues that would prevent them from exercising cannot participate. This trial is currently active but not recruiting new participants.
