ClinConnect Summary
The ReNEW Clinic Cohort Study is a research project looking at children and young adults who have issues with weight and high blood pressure. The goal is to understand how being overweight or obese can affect heart health, particularly focusing on conditions like hypertension (high blood pressure) and left ventricular hypertrophy (a thickening of the heart muscle). This study is taking place at Johns Hopkins University, and it's currently recruiting participants who meet certain criteria.
To join the study, participants need to be children or young adults who are overweight or obese and have been referred to the ReNEW Clinic for high blood pressure evaluation. Unfortunately, children who are under state care or non-English speakers without a translator cannot participate. Those who do take part can expect to have their health information collected and monitored over time, helping researchers learn more about how weight and blood pressure are connected in young people.
