ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding the causes and treatment of seizures in newborns. Researchers are looking at babies who start having seizures in the first month of life, and they will use advanced genetic testing to find out if there are any underlying genetic issues contributing to these seizures. By comparing babies with seizures that start in the neonatal period to those whose seizures begin before their first birthday, the study aims to learn more about their clinical features and how best to treat them.
To participate in this trial, babies need to have severe seizures or a type of epilepsy that doesn’t respond well to treatment, with seizures starting before they turn one year old. However, babies who have had brain injuries, infections, or certain metabolic disorders would not be eligible. If a baby qualifies, their family can expect to undergo genetic testing and receive tailored treatment based on the findings, which could lead to better outcomes for their child. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it includes babies of all genders up to one year old.
