Esophagectomy Motion Capture Respiratory Oesophageal Cancer

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how surgery for esophageal cancer affects breathing and chest movement. When patients have open surgery for this type of cancer, they often experience breathing problems afterward. The trial aims to compare patients who had surgery more than a year ago—either through traditional large incisions or a newer, less invasive method—to healthy volunteers. The goal is to measure how well their chest walls move, using special technology that captures their movements in 3D.

To participate, you must be between 65 and 90 years old and have had esophageal surgery over a year ago, or be a healthy volunteer without any past respiratory issues or surgeries. The study is looking for people who can understand the information given to them and provide consent to participate. If you join, you can expect to help researchers learn more about recovery after esophageal surgery, which could lead to better treatments and care for future patients. It's important to note that individuals with ongoing health issues or younger than 18 or older than 90, as well as pregnant women, cannot take part in this study.
