ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Ventricular Arrhythmia After Myocarditis in Sportsman," is investigating how often athletes experience irregular heartbeats, known as ventricular arrhythmia, after suffering from a condition called myocarditis. Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle that can occur following a viral infection. The study will involve 50 patients aged between 65 and 74 who have been diagnosed with acute myocarditis. To participate, individuals must have experienced chest pain and have specific test results confirming their condition. They should also be active in sports, engaging in physical activity for at least 4 hours a week.
Participants in this trial will undergo regular heart monitoring using an ECG Holter device and a treadmill stress test over the course of one year. This means they will be wearing a small device to track their heart's rhythm continuously and will also perform a physical exercise test to see how their heart responds. The study is currently recruiting participants, and it is essential that individuals do not have other heart conditions or certain contraindications that would prevent them from undergoing the required tests. This research aims to better understand the effects of myocarditis on athletes’ heart health, helping to improve care and outcomes for those affected.
