ClinConnect Summary

The MaLaGa Trial is a clinical study that looks at how different exercise programs can help people with lower limb tendinopathy, which is a condition that causes pain in tendons like the Achilles, patellar, or gluteal tendons. In this trial, researchers will compare a new exercise program that tailors the amount of exercise to each individual’s needs with the current best treatment available. About half of the participants will follow the new exercise plan, while the other half will receive the standard care.

To be eligible for this trial, participants should be adults aged 18 to 65 with a confirmed diagnosis of mid-portion Achilles, patellar, or gluteal tendinopathy that has caused pain for at least one month. However, individuals who have had certain treatments like corticosteroid injections in the past year or have other significant injuries or surgeries affecting the same leg will not be able to participate. Those who join the study can expect to engage in either the new exercise program or the best current treatment, contributing to important research that could improve care for others with similar conditions in the future.
